Trump Threatens Iran Annihilation as Oil Rebounds Before Doha Talks
Oil moved back above $70 after fresh US-Iran strikes revived fears around the Strait of Hormuz, despite both sides agreeing to pause attacks and meet in Doha on Tuesday.
WTI rose to $70.17 and Brent hit $73.21 after a weekend of escalation across Iran, Bahrain and Kuwait. Trump warned Tehran of “annihilation” if attacks continue, while Iran insisted it will not surrender control of Hormuz traffic.
Shipping through the strait has already dropped sharply. Tomorrow’s talks will show whether this is a real de-escalation or just another pause.
Moderna’s Comeback Rally Extends to 125%
Moderna is back in focus after a 12% Friday jump pushed the former COVID winner up 125% year to date.
A unanimous FDA panel vote backing its mRNA flu vaccine has cleared a major hurdle ahead of an August 5 decision. The company is also pitching investors on a broader pipeline across oncology, rare diseases and autoimmune treatments.
Wall Street remains cautious, though. Most analysts still rate the stock a Hold, with consensus targets sitting below its current price.
Swifties Put $4M on Taylor Swift’s Wedding
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have not announced a wedding, but prediction-market traders have already wagered more than $4 million on where and when it might happen.
New York is the clear favourite, while markets are also taking bets on the date, guest list and wedding party. Kalshi gives a 95.5% chance of a 2026 ceremony.
The frenzy shows just how far prediction markets have moved beyond politics and sports. Entertainment trading is now on track for a $1 billion year.
